Rain and Studio Photoshoot

I'm so excited to be working with your group again this year for your dance company photos! For this year's photoshoot we'll be working on both a studio set and a rain set. The studio is located in Sandy, UT.

Rain photos are much more challenging than a normal photoshoot. Water and splashes can be very challenging to time and shape correctly. It's also pretty challenging to perform as you normally do.

PLEASE SIGNUP IN GROUPS OF 4 AND PLAN TO CARPOOL

Your photo session will start with headshots and dry action photos.

Once these are complete, you'll move on to the wet / rain photo station. There is a single bathroom available for changing.

There isn't a lot of available parking, so please plan to carpool to your group session. There should be max two cars parking in front of the studio. Here is a Google Map with pins where you can park:

Please check back later for time and location of group photos. We decided to take these photos separately from the individual photos to reduce your waiting times and make it so you have dry hair for the photos.

There are some things you'll want to keep in mind as we get ready for the photoshoot!


  • Your package includes 4 action shots and 2 headshots. Because rain photos are a more extreme condition, the photos will work out better the more prepared you are for your action shots! Make sure you feel confident and practice your moves in advance. You might also consider having several backup pose options in case something isn't working well with your initial 4.
  • We'll be in the water. It is heated as much as possible, but heated water can run out and converting to small rain droplets makes it cold. Be ready for cold, bring towels and what you need to dry off.
  • There is one small restroom available for changing. I'll also have a small changing tent available.
  • I don't know outfit colors quite yet. Check with your leaders.
  • We'll be running according to a signup sheet. Please plan to arrive at the studio with your group 15 minutes before your assigned start time. We'll begin with headshots, then studio action shots, then end with rain photos. This will keep you dry for the first photos.
  • I'll be bringing in a second photographer that has the same professional dance photography training that I have. That will help us keep a similar style in photos. We'll watch as we take your photos to try to coach out your best technique. Please keep in mind, we'll have a limited amount of time per person. So knowing what you're going to perform in advance will help keep things running smoothly. I would also encourage you to have a few backup pose options just in case something isn't working out with your first choices.
