It's a red rock area without the driving commitment. It's not as famous as the other red rock areas in Utah probably because it's largely just red piles of rocks. But it's a nearby option!

Arches National Park

Probably the red rock area you've heard about most. It has beautiful arches, delicate arch being the one Utah is famous for. There are a lot of photography options in the area! There are so many amazing options here, I'll try to show some of the more notable ones.

Driving Distance From Salt Lake City: 3.5 hours

Cons:

• It's a hot area of Utah. As I type this (July 4, 2023) the weather is set to get up to 104 with 80's in the evening
• It requires reservation to get in during peak hours now. Or you can get in really early or after 4pm
• Some hiking may be required
• Delicate and other famous arches can get crowded

Snow Canyon is a beautiful location. There are many red rock options, some with luscious greenery, some without. There aren't arches, but there is a little slot canyon, sand dunes, rock walls, boulders, etc.

Driving Distance From Salt Lake City: 4.5 hours

Cons:

• It's a hot area of Utah. As I type this (July 4, 2023) the weather is set to get up to 104 with 90's in the evening
• Actual Snow Canyon requires a photography permit that you have to purchase in advance. $175. However, you can also just try to take pics and see if it works out and retreat to surrounding areas if it doesn't work out.
• Some hiking may be required
